Fourth graders had a visit from Michael Sexton, Correction Sergeant at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility, during our seventh career day. Mr. Sexton explained what training is needed to be a corrections officer and what a typical day is like. The students also got to look at some gear up close. Ms. Huskie is accepting eclipse glasses as part of the effort to help students in Latin America experience the eclipse in October. See the flier below. Congratulations to Olivia Hurlburt who was selected to be featured in the 2024 Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists! The festival is a free community event that is presented annually at SPAC to celebrate the collaborative creativity of more than 500 of the Capital Region’s brightest young actors, dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists. Her drawing, "Flight," will be featured in the online gallery and at SPAC's live festival event in June.

Kayleigh joined senior Scholar Athletes from schools throughout the capital region at the annual Section 2 Girls Basketball Scholar Athlete Awards event in Saratoga. Kayleigh was nominated by her Coach, Jason Humiston, in recognition of her work on and off the court! Johanna Hamby and David LaPointe from Fort Ticonderoga brought the program "A Soldier's Life" to our fourth graders this week. The presentation taught students about the daily life and hardships of American soldiers during the Revolutionary War. Students could see the supplies, clothing, and food used by the soldiers.

Learn more at the launch event on Tuesday, April 16, from 9 am to 11 am at Northwest Bay Conference Center, SUNY Adirondack, Queensbury. Mrs. Irish’s third-grade class had a special visitor! Shawn Linendoll, a local musher, brought his sled and many other tools and materials he has used for dog sled racing. The students have been following the 2024 Iditarod race in Alaska, and each student has been tracking an individual musher in the race. Thank you to Mr. Linendoll for visiting Fort Ann.
