Our crochet club is getting “hooked” on a new hobby! 🧶

Welcome to the Fort Ann Library Cafe! As part of Read Across America week, our fourth and fifth graders got a little "taste" of a variety of books before choosing which one they wanted to read. They had a great time and now have some new books to check out!

📖📚 To help celebrate Read Across America Week, Mrs. Wood visited Mrs. Gordon's first graders and shared one of her favorite books, "Corduroy"!

During our sixth career exploration day, our fourth graders learned from Allison Vrooman, Paramedic, Queensbury EMS, and Town of Fort Ann Supervisor, Sam Hall. Mrs. Vrooman shared what it was like to work on an ambulance and brought the equipment she uses for the students to examine. Mr. Hall taught students about local government, and what a supervisor does on a daily basis. Thank you to Ms. LaVine for organizing this event!

Healthy teeth are important! Sign-up your student for the Hudson Headwaters Health Network Healthy Smiles program! Children can get preventive dental care and education right at school. Elementary families can fill out the form sent home with the students and return to school. Junior/Senior high school students and families can download a consent form here: https://www.hhhn.org/services/childrens-school-based-dental-program/ and all the details!

This year, our school has partnered with The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund! Each month, a retired Fort Ann teacher visits our kindergarten classrooms, reads a story to the class, and each student goes home with a book donated by the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund!
In addition to reading, retired Fort Ann teacher Karen Ballard has also been able to share her experiences and teach some lessons. Last month, she discussed her trip to California with the class and taught the students about different animals. This month, the students learned a Valentine's movement activity!
Thank you to the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund and Mrs. Ballard!

Mrs. Soprano’s class learned about Inca suspension bridges and how advanced their engineering was! Then students designed and built their own mini suspension bridges using string and popsicle sticks. Results varied, but everyone agreed that bridge building is harder than it looks!

Chef Matthew Young, CTE Culinary Arts Teacher at WSWHE BOCES, and professional photographer, Erica Woodward, visited with our fourth graders for our fifth career exploration day! Chef Young spoke to our students about becoming chefs and brought chocolate chip cookies to teach some culinary terms and, of course, to eat! Mrs. Woodward gave the students hands-on photography lessons and let them take photos of each other! Thank you to Ms. LaVine for organizing this event!
